Enzyme Development

evocatal uses its focused libraries both to identify suitable biocatalysts within the shortest of timeframes and to optimize their performance.

Make our expertise work for you! More

Metagenomics

To identify tailored process enzymes, we access both extensive collections of microorganism strains and specialized metagenome libraries. These include metagenome databases of marine microorganisms that are found in extreme habitats in the Mediterranean. With the help of our HT-screening platform, our team can quickly isolate the specific biocatalysts that are able to meet the challenges posed by your process demands – whether you’re looking stability in solvent, or an enzyme with a high pH-tolerance.

Enzyme optimization

Native enzymes are seldom able to catalyze reactions involving artificial substrates, nor do they generally remain stable under certain process conditions. We use a number of different methods for directed evolution – as well as rational design – to systematically improve important parameters such as enzyme thermostability or selectivity. Our cutting-edge HT-screening equipment also allows us to scan a large number of variants in a very short period of time.

Panel Plates

For many enzymes, we are able to access focussed variant libraries known as ‘panel plates’, which are instantly available to be used in screening for better performance. The Panel Plates provide 500-800 variants of a particular enzyme that can be examined at the customer’s request for improved activity or selectivity.

HT-Screening

At evocatal, we use cutting-edge, high-throughput technologies and innovative selection systems to scan our substantial libraries. The raw data is then run through our state-of-the-art analysis systems such as chiral GC and HPLC to validate the hits. More
