TPP-enzymes (C-C-coupling enzymes)
TPP-enzymes catalyze the formation /
cleavage of C-C bonds between carbonyl compounds. The reaction is
mediated by the bound cofactor Thiamine pyrophosphate (TPP), which gives
this group of enzymes its name. TPP-enzymes provide a biocatalytic
approach to access diversely substituted enantiopure 2-hydroxy-ketones.
These compounds have shown a lot of potential in synthesis, and have
become interesting reaction intermediates for the chemical and
pharmaceutical industries.| |
