Thorsten Eggert is CEO of evocatal and one of the founders. He studied biology at the Ruhr-University in Bochum and received his PhD degree in microbiology with special emphasis on enzyme-optimization through molecular engineering. After completing his PhD degree he was head of the group “Directed Evolution” at the Institute of Molecular Enzyme Technology of Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf and successfully expanded it into a key group of the institute as well as at the Centre for Microbial Biotechnology (CMB) at the Research Centre Jülich. In May 2007 he finished his post doctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) in molecular microbiology. The topic was “Novel biocatalysts for technical applications by evolution and design”.

Michael Puls is Managing Director and head of the products division and sales at evocatal. He studied applied science in Freiberg (Germany) and Chicago (USA) before he came to the Institute of Molecular Enzyme Technology, Heinrich-Heine-University of Düsseldorf in 2003. Here he received a scholarship by the Düsseldorf Entrepreneurs foundation and finished his PhD in 2007 in the field of molecular engineering of enzymes. He joined evocatal in the same year.

Christian Leggewie is head of research & development of evocatal GmbH. He studied biology at the Ruhr-University Bochum and finished his PHD in the field of enzyme technology at the Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf. In 2004 he founded the workgroup "biodiversity" at the Institute for Molecular Enzyme Technology of Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf at the Research Centre Jülich. Leggewie joined evocatal in July 2007.
